PSYCHOMETRIC PROPERTIES OF THE SPANISH ADAPTATION BY MESTRE ESCRIVÁ ET AL. (2004) OF THE DAVIS INTERPERSONAL REACTIVITY INDEX (1980) IN THE MAR DEL PLATA UNIVERSITY POPULATION

Abstract

This work presents the results obtained by analyzing the validity and reliability of the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) of Davis (1980) in its Spanish version carried out by Mestre Escrivá et al. (2004), in the university population of the city of Mar del Plata. This instrument was used within the framework of research carried out in 2019 that included the participation of 651 students from different undergraduate programs in the National University of Mar del Plata. When analyzing the results, it was found that the psychometric properties of the Spanish instrument did not present the expected internal consistency. Cronbach's Alpha for the total scale (28 items) was .584. Faced with this, a factorial solution was offered by eliminating 11 items, so the modified instrument had 17 items distributed in four subscales. In this way, Cronbach's Alpha rose to .774 and explained 82.66% of the variance.
