The pandemic and its establishment of virtual hearings in the criminal process

Abstract

The global pandemic caused structural changes in all areas of society. In Justice, this was seen in the establishment of virtual audiences (with the format of videoconferences) that, far from arriving at the right time, surprised the criminal justice system. All technological advances must be introduced after a cost-benefit examination that leads to an adequate decision regarding its use. The objective of this work is to analyze the existing details in the use of a virtual audiences system in the accusatory criminal process, using the first months of implementation of virtual audiences as an analysis method, to conclude about the adaptation of Justice with technological advances.
